On Nov. 11, 1871 a group gathered to organize a Baptist Church.

In Dec. 1871 the church proceeded to choose by ballot a name for the church which resulted in "Concord"

You can read more about this organization in the book "Blest Be The Tie That Binds" A History of Concord Community, Church and Cemetery compiled and documented from church records, by Melba Schochler, Elda Parrish and Estelle Mahan.  This book is in the Palestine Library and a copy is online, see the navagation to the left.
